Secondary:
- Preliminary

- Time: 1030 to 1110 hrs

- Semi-Finals and Final

Objective of Event
- Create an opportunity for the participants to gain a deeper understanding of the Chinese culture
- Motivate the participants to improve their command of the Chinese language
- Provide a platform for the participants to display their language abilities and interact with other Chinese language learners

This event is jointly organised by Singapore Press Holdings Chinese Media Group and Nanyang Girls’ High School.
Rules for Registration
Primary:
- Eligibility: Participants must be currently at the level of Primary 5 or 6, and between the ages of 10 and 12.
- Number of Participants: No limit.
Secondary:
- Eligibility: Participants must be currently at the level of Secondary 1 to 5, and between the ages of 13 and 17.
- Number of Participants: No limit.

Rules of Competition
Primary:
- The competition consists of two stages: Preliminary and Final.
- Final:
- Four schools with top average scores from the Preliminary round will enter the Final. Each school will form a team of three, with one substitute if necessary, to take part in the Challenge. There must be at least three Singaporeans in the team of four.
Secondary:
- The competition consists of three stages: Preliminaries, Semi-finals and Finals
- Semi-Finals:
- 6 schools with the highest average score from the Preliminaries will enter the Semi-Finals
- Each school will form a team of three, with one substitute if necessary, to enter the Semi-Finals. There must be at least three Singaporeans in the team of four.
- There will be two rounds of quizzes in the Semi-Finals, and top 4 teams with the highest scores will enter the Finals.
- Finals:
- The 4 schools entering the Finals will each form a team of three, with one substitute if necessary, to take part in the Finals. There must be at least three Singaporeans in the team of four.
Format of Competition
Primary:
- Preliminary:
- Participants will complete a written quiz individually.
- The quiz will consist of closed-ended multiple-choice questions.
- Quiz content will include: English to Chinese Translation; guessing idioms from pictures; and choosing the right word.
- Semi-Finals and Final:
- Schools will send in teams of three (with one substitute if necessary) to compete on behalf of the school.
- The Final will require both spoken and written response.
- Quiz content will include: pronunciation of words, Chinese literature knowledge
Secondary:
- Preliminary:
- Participants will complete a written quiz individually.

- Final:

Judging
Primary:
- The Champion, First Runner-Up and Second Runner-Up will be determined by the overall score achieved by the team.
- Individual Prizes will also be awarded to the top 20 scorers of the Preliminary.
Secondary:
- The Champion, First Runner-Up and Second Runner-Up will be determined by the overall score achieved by the team.
- Individual Prizes will also be awarded to the top 30 scorers of the Preliminary.
